Welcome to Where My Girls At? A community for women designed to create a safe space & bring women together socially (online or face to face).
How did it start? Well, truthfully this idea came about on the back of a TikTok trend (damn millenials and their phones 😅 that kept on coming up on my page. It was the quote originally by Rachel Green from the TV show friends "I'm ok I've got my girls" and a lot of the posts relating to this were women sharing stories, images and videos of their girl crew which was lovely to see 💗
BUT as with everything, there was a flip side to this and I kept seeing ladies of all ages in the comments and even using this sound to make their own videos saying that they don't have a group of friends, they've moved away or drifted apart and just don't feel as if they belong. The more comments I saw the more I realised this was a pretty common feeling and so after a quick video & absolutely no thought process behind it at all, Where My Girls At? was born.
I dint really know what I was eexpecting from this, but I certainly wasnt expecting 80,000 people to see that video 😅. Things skyrocketed & were moving along very quickly so for someone who had just started this in a whim without a second thought about what I actually need to do or how to do it, it was kinda overwhelming. As more & more women found the page I found myself thinking "oh sh*t 😅" - I don't know how to run a woman's group, I had nothing planned or any idea of how to even start. But one thing that gave me motivation is the amount of people in Scotland alone who were on board & the need for groups like this to help create connections.
So fast forward to now - we've got a brand new website, lots of plans in the pipeline & have held several events across the year (not as many as I'd have liked but I've learned things along the way about how to do things right & make it better).
All of this is a learning curve for me too. I won't always get things right straight away but stick with me & together we can create a community we can be proud of.
Daniella
